Siren's Daughter
Pages:322
Format:Paperback
Being the daughter of two famous musicians might seem to be an ideal upbringing to live in, but to Mollie Geddes-Long, the offspring of Paul Geddes and Katie Long, two members of global rock supergroup Siren, it is anything but. Fears of her being kidnapped for ransom means Mollie cannot go anywhere without an escort, and her restrictive life chafes her freedom-wishing persona. Her frustrations extend to her musicianship as she realises she will never be as good with the guitar or at singing as her gifted mother. It is against this backdrop of frustration that she strives to steer her future through music, not wishing to do anything else with her life, but in what direction? How can she reach the same dizzy heights as her parents without following their route? She doesn’t yet know, but the twelve-year-old is determined to make a name for herself, somehow. As she begins to leave her childhood behind and approach adolescence, other interests begin to impinge on her and this only adds to her confusion as to where she wants to take herself towards adulthood. All these serve to put barriers in her path and she will have to hurdle them if she is to realise her dreams, sometimes helped and sometimes hindered by her mother.
